TRAVEL INFORMATION

Sicily

Full of charm, history, and incredible food, the northwestern part of Sicily is relaxed, authentic, and off the beaten path. Unlike Italy’s more touristic cities, this corner of the island feels like a true escape. We chose it for exactly that reason, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.

As the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily offers everything from ancient ruins to hilltop villages and crystal-clear beaches. That said, it's bigger than you might expect and driving across the island can take 4–5 hours.

To help you get your bearings, we’ve included a map with key spots marked, including the wedding venue and nearby airports. Whether you're turning this into a full vacation or just coming for the celebration, we hope Sicily captures your heart like it did ours.

Flights

To get to Scopello, we recommend flying into Palermo (PMO) or Trapani (TPS). You are more than welcome to fly directly to these airports from your home city, however, we’ve found that flying in and out of a major European city can be more cost effective.

To explore roundtrip flights to Europe, use the Google Flights "Explore" tool (shown below). Input your home airport and the dates you are looking to travel then browse available deals until you find one that works for you. From there, you can book a second flight to Palermo or Trapani at a lower price point.

IMPORTANT: You need a valid passport for international travel with at least 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure.

Starting in 2026, US citizens will also need an ETIAS travel authorization to enter Europe.

Getting Around

Scopello is about a 40-50 minute drive from both Palermo and Trapani Airports. We recommend pre-arranging private transportation (or renting a car). Ride-share apps like Uber are NOT available. On event days, we will provide transportation between the venues and specific hotels.

While driving in Sicily is generally safe and fairly straightforward, it helps to know that locals tend to drive fast and aren’t always strict about the rules of the road. If you choose to rent a car, stay alert and drive defensively. Smaller towns like Scopello are more relaxed and easier to navigate, while larger cities such as Palermo, Catania, and Taormina can be more hectic and stressful, especially for first-time visitors.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To rent a car in Italy, you will need an International Driving Permit (IDP). Obtaining one is quick and easy through your local AAA office. You’ll need to present two passport photos, a completed application, and $20 for the application fee for each driver.
