FAQs

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The wedding will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Tonnara di Scopello in the charming coastal town of Scopello, Sicily.

  • Guests are welcome to arrive at Tonnara di Scopello starting at 5:00 PM on May 19, 2026. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.

  • We may have a small gift registry with a few select items, as we currently don’t own a home and move frequently. We will also have a honeymoon fund for those who prefer to contribute towards our travels. We’ll share more information as it becomes available!

  • Scopello experiences beautiful spring weather in May, with temperatures averaging between 64°F and 72°F during the day and cooling off at night. Expect mostly sunny and pleasant days, though occasional rain showers may occur. We recommend bringing a light jacket and planning accordingly.

TRAVEL LOGISTICS

  • To get to Scopello, we recommend flying into Palermo (PMO) or Trapani (TPS), which are the closest airports. We highly recommend that you start by finding a roundtrip flight to Europe using the Google Flights "Explore" tool for the best deals. From there, book a second flight to Palermo or Trapani.

  • If you’re traveling from outside the EU (including the U.S.), you’ll need a valid passport with at least 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure. U.S. citizens can stay in Italy for up to 90 days without a visa.

Starting in 2026, US citizens will also need an ETIAS travel authorization to enter Europe.

  • Ride-share apps like Uber are NOT available. We recommend pre-arranging private transportation or renting a car. On event days, we will provide transportation between the venues and specific hotels.

IMPORTANT: Renting a car and driving in Sicily is safe and easy, but you will need an International Driving Permit (IDP).

  • Check out the “Accommodations” page for more details on where to stay in Scopello.

CULTURE

  • The official language of Sicily is Italian, and you’ll also hear Sicilian, a beautiful regional dialect, spoken by locals. While many Sicilians speak English, don’t be surprised if they don’t. After all, you’re a guest in their home!

Learning a few basic Italian phrases will make your experience even more enjoyable.

  • Sicily uses the Euro (€) as its currency. While most places accept credit cards, we recommend having some cash on hand for smaller purchases.

There are ATMs in Scopello where you can withdraw cash for a small fee, or you can send yourself money and pick it up at a Western Union in Castellammare del Golfo.

  • Tipping isn’t really customary in Sicily, but it’s always a nice gesture to leave small tips for anyone who helps make your trip enjoyable. A tip for great service is always appreciated!

  • Sicilians like to call themselves the 'true Italians' and are famous for their warm hospitality and laid-back way of life.

The pace in Sicily is slower, with people taking their time to enjoy meals and conversations. Be patient and polite, and you'll find the locals are friendly and eager to share their beautiful culture.

DRESS CODE & EVENTS

  • We are going for a Sicilian Chic party. The event will be held outdoors at Tenute Plaia Agriturismo, so comfortable footwear and a light jacket is recommended.

    • Ladies: Think bold prints and vibrant colors.

    • Gentlemen: Lightweight linen, stylish summer attire, and relaxed sophistication.

  • Our wedding is Formal. The ceremony will take place on historic stone paths at Tonnara di Scopello, so choose shoes that are both elegant and walkable!

    • Ladies: Elegant evening dresses or formal cocktail dresses.

    • Gentlemen: Suits or formal dress jackets are recommended.

  • We understand that traveling to Sicily is quite a trek, and we don’t want you to have to do it alone. Generally, every adult invited to our wedding will be welcome to bring a guest. The formal invitation will specify exactly who is invited, so please keep an eye out for that!

  • Yes, children are welcome! We love your little ones and would be honored to have them celebrate with us. However, please keep in mind a few things about this historic destination:

    • Roads and walkways in Scopello can be uneven and cobblestone.

    • Some accommodations are older and may not be equipped with modern amenities like elevators or cribs.

    • Babysitting services are limited in the area.

If you plan to travel with kids, we recommend securing child-friendly lodging early and reaching out if you need help coordinating logistics.

  • On event days, we will provide transportation between the venues and specific hotels. More transportation details will be shared closer to the date.
